Louis Canter, OEF is a Pastoral Assistant for Saint Joseph Catholic Church and Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida. Louis is involved with ecumenical and inter faith dialogue, his work as a composer and concert artist for International Liturgical Publications has offered him a wide variety of opportunities for dialogue with many faith communities. He assisted the Diocese of Orlando as a representative on the board for the Interfaith Council of Central Florida. He is a member of the National Association of Lay Ministry, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. He also sits on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission for the Diocese of Orlando.
Louis has spent most of his life as a Pastoral Musician, which has afforded him the opportunity to minister in a wide variety of parishes that had many multi-cultural facets to them. The combination of being both Pastoral Musician and Pastoral Minister makes Louis a great resource in Pastoral Leadership. He is currently the Composer in Residence for the Lutheran Franciscans, along with his ministry at his local parish. He is a published composer with Oregon Catholic Press, World Library Publications and International Liturgical Publications. Effective March 15th, Louis will be the Pastoral Assistant for the parish cluster of St. Joseph, Resurrection, and St. Anthony, in Lakeland.
