Ministry to the Sick
Ministry to the Sick is a pastoral ministry of caring for those who are hospitalized, in nursing homes, or confined to private homes. Ministers to the Sick (MTS) are trained and developed to conduct a pastoral visit with time to listen and to pray about the concerns of the sick or homebound person and to share the Eucharist with them.
To serve in this ministry one must first be trained as an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion. There is additional training provided for Ministry to the Sick. To start the process, interested parishioners should contact Dianne Kelter at 863.398.7100. You will then be registered to attend a Diocesan Training workshop that suits you. After successfully completing this training, our Ministry to the Sick Coordinator will train you as a Minister to the Sick for Saint Anthony Parish.
Bereavement Ministry
Our bereavement team ministers to grieving members in our communtiy who have lost a loved one. Bereavement ministers act as a liaison between the parish, the funeral home, and the bereaved family. They guide the family through the funeral planning process, and are present at the funeral to help everything go smoothly. Members of this team should be sensitive and empathetic toward the grieving family members. They should also be willing to learn and adhere to Norms for Order of Christian Funerals.
