The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.
~ Catechism of the Catholic Church n. 1324
As Catholics, we are encouraged to receive the Eucharist frequently and have the opportunity to do so during the celebration of any Mass.
First Eucharist (Holy Communion)
Students in second grade and up who want to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will need to register in our faith formation program. Both school and parish families will be required to fill out the parish faith formation and sacrament registration forms. This can be done during registration weekend in the summer, or by visiting the parish office. All candidates for a sacrament who are not registered at a Catholic school, must register and participate in Wednesday evening faith formation classes, as well as First Sunday Family Faith Formation.
Catholic School children are not required to attend the weekly Wednesday night sessions but will be required to participate fully in the Family Faith Formation classes that take place on the first Sunday of every month, as part of their sacramental preparation.
Please note* Sacrament preparation does not take place in the school. It is a function of the Church.
