Our Faith Formation programs for Children and Youth involve a cooperative effort between parents/guardians and the parish. At home, children learn things like prayers, the way we live our faith, as well as the values we hold dear as Catholic Christians. In the classroom sessions, we provide a deeper explanation of Church teachings, so that your children can better understand the whys and how’s of what they learn about faith at home.
A summary of faith formation opportunities for children and youth of all ages is listed below. Please watch our parish bulletin during the summer for details of registration requirements for each new faith formation year. If you have any questions in the meantime, please complete the form on this screen and we will be happy to help.
Kidzone Nursery Kidzone is faith formation for our smallest parishioners. Kidzone operates as a nursery during the 10am Mass, allowing parents and guardians to nurture their faith at the Mass knowing that their infant through preschool aged children are well taken care of. Kidzone provides a loving and safe environment in which children can learn about Jesus through Bible stories and songs. Stop by the KIDZONE before or after 10 am Mass to register your child!
First Sunday Family Faith Formation First Sunday Family Faith Formation is a monthly opportunity to get together as a family and as a community to learn about and share our faith. All who are enrolled in youth faith formation are asked to attend this on a consistent monthly basis. All those enrolled in First Reconciliation & Eucharist formation
must participate monthly.
For these sessions, we will gather on the first Sunday of the month (usually) after the 10am Mass in the Faith Development Center. We will share some refreshments and then a family lesson. It is always interactive and fun. Sessions run until 12:30-1:00 pm.
Kindergarten through 8th Grade Kindergarten through 8th grade attend faith formation class on Wednesdays from 6-7:30 pm, with the exception of the 1st Sunday of the month, which is First Sunday Family Faith Formation.
So, when you register your child(ren) for faith formation classes, you commit to participating in First Sunday Family Faith Formation as a family, and then the rest of the month, the children alone attend grade level classes on Wednesday nights.
First Reconciliation & First Eucharist Preparation Any child 2
nd grade and up who does not attend a Catholic school is required to attend weekly Wednesday night faith formation, as well as 1
st Sunday Family Faith Formation. All Catholic school children must attend First Sunday Family Faith Formation as preparation for the sacraments.
Please note * Sacrament preparation does not take place in the school. It is a function of the Church.
8th Grade Confirmation Preparation Beginning in November, 8th graders will meet the 1st Wednesday of the month until May. Those who begin preparation in the fall of 2019 will be confirmed in the fall of 2020.
Full attendance in weekly middle school classes and first Wednesday “Confirmation” class is required, as well as attendance at the Confirmation retreat in August of 2020.
Catholic school children are not required to attend Wednesday night middle school sessions, although, they are encouraged to do so. They MUST however attend all 1
st Wednesday of the month “Confirmation” sessions.
Because this is a sacramental preparation year, we are much stricter on participation and attendance.
Please note* Sacrament preparation does not take place in the school. It is a function of the Church.
